My Mindthief had five nondiscardable cards, five discardable and two augment cards that could give me experience. Their starting deck includes several cards that give them experience. We completed 7 scenarios (we needed to play one scenario twice and another thrice to win it) and accumulated 170 experience for the Mindthief (level 4) and 184 experience for Spellweaver (level 4). How to maximize the Mindthief – Spellweaver as a starting class pair?īoth characters can level up pretty quickly. We chose as our party name Pussy Riot, as both of our characters are XX, and many times fighting against the patriarchy of male Demons and Bosses :). Instead we went for the frailer Mindthief (me) and Spellweaver (boyfriend), two characters whose starting health is. We enjoy a bit of a challenge and did not want to go for the traditional strong characters like the Cragheart or the Brute, which have a starting health of 10. You might pick up some nice items within specific scenarios (no spoilers) but the merchant doesn’t have that much to offer us.We started playing Gloomhaven 7 days ago, and had a difficult time choosing our characters for our campaign in two players. Most of our gold will be spent on Enhancements, and the Prosperity lvl 2/3 items really aren’t that exciting for us. Upgrading our items really isn’t a huge priority for the Spellweaver in this level range. At Lvl’s 6 & 7 we will really wrap up these improvements to our Modifier Deck, but my the end of Lvl 5 our modifier deck should already be pretty dang awesome! Items? It also concludes what I consider to be the most important perks for our build. Two more +2’s and two more opportunities to generate some Fire Elements is too tempting to pass up. Now that we have Freeze (twice), I recommend taking its counterpart Cinder (twice). In that case, our new Lvl 5 deck is comprised of our 4 “Must Have’s” and our 4 “New Additions.” Our entire deck is pretty much Ranged Attack/AoE focused now, but we’ve picked up enough decent move bottom abilities & those nice boots to make us mobile enough to get by. Remaining Lvl 1 Card: Ride the Wind or Flame StrikeĪlthough I don’t suggest keeping Icy Blast forever, I’d probably just drop whichever “Remaining Lvl 1 Card” that we haven’t kicked to the curb yet. Nice Additions: Icy Blast, Cold Fire, Forked Beam Must Have: Reviving Ether, Mana Bolt, Fire Orbs (Enhanced), Impaling Eruption It’s been a while since we took stock of our Deck priorities so let’s revisit that: It’s risky business though in the event that we randomly draw Chromatic Explosion as our Short Rest burn card (of course we could Long Rest and avoid that issue if the situation allows for such). We can also play the gambling game to try and use the bottom half of this card for our first rest cycle, to gain an additional free Element of our choice and still use the top half ability on our second or third rest cycle of the scenario. Cold is always nice for Cold Fire, and we get to make use of Fire & Cold simultaneously with that attack. There’s really no debate here, so instead let’s just focus on how to best use Chromatic Explosion.Ĭreate 6 Elements?! Unfortunately, most of those Elements will expire before we get to use them, but hopefully some of our companions will make use of some of them as well. Also, at second glance it looks pretty obvious. Engulfed in Flames or Chromatic Explosion?Īt first glance this one looks like a no-brainer.
